A pro-lifer on the IU Board of Trustees?

Conservatives have long lamented that universities are a bastion of liberal ideology, even all the way up to the board of trustees.  In the closing months of the Kernan administration, for example, he appointed Clarence Boone, an abortionist who worked at Planned Parenthood’s

Merrillville

abortion clinic, to the IU Board of Trustees.

Today the life issue is expressing itself anew in this familiar battleground as Indiana Right to Life promotes a pro-life candidate in the upcoming election.  IRTL sought to reach IU alumni to remind them that they have a voice in the election and urged them to vote for a conservative pro-life candidate.

Excerpts from IRTL's May 19th Community Action Alert:

Are you an Indiana University alumni?  Would you like to see a solid pro-life conservative serving as an alumni member of the IU Board of Trustees?  Here is your opportunity to take action.  Indiana Right to Life urges all IU alumni to vote for Kelly Burton Smith.

Once a year in May, all IU alumni (anyone with ANY IU degree from ANY campus) are eligible to vote in for an alumni member of IU's Board of Trustees. This year, there is a clear pro-life candidate...  Kelly is an intellectual property attorney in Indianapolis and holds a law degree from IU -Indianapolis.  She's a true friend of the family and will serve as a faithful pro-life voice as an alumni member of the IU Board of Trustees.

This is an interesting new frontier for advocacy activities - and one that is heating up with increased attention to same-sex partner benefits and other issues such as abortion, hate speech, pornography, underage drinking, etc.

If you are an IU alumnus of any stripe or persuasion, you can Cast Your Vote Now Via The Internet.

That's interesting. I will vote accordingly as an IU grad.
